Dr Shilan Fuad Hussain was a Doctoral Fellow within the Global Fellowship Initiative of the GCSP. Dr Shilan Fuad Hussain is an interdisciplinary academic who specializes in Intercultural Studies. Her work sits at the intersection of sociology and cultural analysis, and its symbiotic relevance to modern society. The main focus of her research has been examining the hegemonic state narratives, diaspora and gender. As a woman who grew up in Iraq amidst war before transitioning to the diaspora, her personal experiences have shaped her worldview and unique perspectives to current cultural and political debates.
