Profile

Ralph Mamiya is a Non-Resident Advisor with the International Peace Institute and has spent more than a decade working on peacekeeping and protection issues, most recently leading the protection of civilians efforts in the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations. He has served with the United Nations missions in Sudan and South Sudan, conducted special investigations and engaged in strategic reviews. Mr. Mamiya is co-editor of the volume Protection of Civilians (2016, Oxford University Press) and is a contributor to the Oxford Handbook on the Use of Force in International Law (2015)At GCSP, he is engaged in exploring cutting edge issues in peacekeeping and peacebuilding, law and security, as well as political strategy and negotiation. Mr. Mamiya holds a Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School.
