Profile

Abirami Rajesh Aiyer is a Young Leader in Foreign and Security Policy with the Global Fellowship Initiative at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), specialising in transnational security and governance. Her work focuses on preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE), displacement, and gender within a broader human security framework in multilateral policy contexts.

She has contributed to EU-funded research and capacity-building initiatives at Leiden University’s Institute of Security and Global Affairs, conducting qualitative and OSINT-based analysis on extremism trends and supporting the development of policy-relevant outputs for European security stakeholders. Her research has examined gendered dynamics of radicalisation, displacement-related vulnerabilities, and child-focused prevention frameworks, including the use of AI-driven tools in high-risk environments.

Previously, she served as Executive Assistant to the President at the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi, providing strategic and research support on international affairs and contributing to high-level policy dialogues, institutional partnerships, and global engagements.

Abirami holds an Advanced MSc in International Relations and Diplomacy from Leiden University, where her research focused on psychosocial dynamics in post-conflict peacebuilding, and a BA in Psychology, Sociology, and Economics from Jain University. Her interests lie in strengthening multilateral approaches to peace and security, particularly in conflict prevention, displacement, and inclusive mediation in fragile contexts.
