The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) Communications Department is offering a 6-month paid internship for a candidate studying marketing and/or digital communications with an interest in international relations, politics, development or a related field who possesses relevant vocational qualifications and project management experience. The MARCOM Intern reports to the Communications Director while under the direct supervision of the Head of Marketing. The MARCOM Intern works in close collaboration with colleagues in their department and in cooperation with colleagues in the Director’s Office, GCSP’s Departments, and in other support services, including the Departments of Administration, Finance, ICT, and Human Resources.

Missions

Customer Experience

  • Assist with monitoring and managing the official customer email inbox
  • Oversee and track Salesforce cases
  • Help identify recurring issues and trends from customers and suggest improvements to processes
  • Assist with the extracting and exporting from Salesforce report to support monitoring and performance tracking
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of dashboards for internal stakeholders
     

Marketing Support

  • Assist with market research to identify trends, opportunities and risk
  • Support competition analysis and benchmarking
  • Contribute to marketing strategy development based on data-driven insights
  • Assist with analysing data to generate insights on user performance metrics, and customer behavior
  • Participate in regular meetings with selected departments to provide marketing and communications support and alignment
     

Partnership Development and Fundraising Support

  • Assist in identifying potential strategic partnership and funding opportunities
  • Support outreach activities to prospective partners and donors
  • Contribute to proposal and fundraising documentation
  • Support tracking and monitoring of partnership and funding opportunities
     

Additional Duties

  • Makes suggestions for improvement; brings innovative ideas and creative thinking
  • Ensure the brand is always respected and guidelines are followed
  • Effectively promote synergies and ensure coordination and collaboration with other programmes, cluster areas and impact lines across the centre
  • Support the Marketing & Communications Department in all aspects of the team’s work as required 

Required Education and Experience

  • Enrolled in a school or university degree in an area related to communications, marketing, international security, law, social sciences, political science or business or public administration. 
  • Fluency in English and French spoken and written is required; knowledge of other languages is an asset.
  • Holder of a valid residency, or work permit in Geneva, or Swiss or EU national.

  • Basic knowledge or academic experience in project management 
  • Good copywriting and editing skills 
  • Competent use of standard Microsoft Office programs including Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and proficiency in Windows environment, Sprout Social and Salesforce.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; good presentation skills

Budgetary Responsibility

  • The MARCOM INTERN will be expected to competently manage any budgetary requirements within the scope of their role and in compliance with GCSP professional standards.  

Geographic Location / Expected Travel

The position is based in Geneva.
Occasional travel is expected according to the events and activities’ locations.
