Junior Professional Officer - Executive Education department

The position is based in Geneva

The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is offering a full-time position, to a recent graduate in international relations, politics, business administration or a related field (or who possesses relevant vocational qualifications and project management experience). This position will be specifically dealing with courses, projects and clients and will include coordinating courses and visits, assisting with internal and external communication and reporting activities and providing overall administrative support to the Executive Education Department.

Under the supervision of the Director of Executive Education, the Junior Professional Officer, works closely with colleagues within the department and cooperates with other internal stakeholders, including the Director’s Office, GCSP’s Programmes, and other support services such as Administration, Finance, ICT, and Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and logistical support to activities within the Executive Education Department such as proposals writing, budgeting and client management;
  • Coordinate courses and visits including make presentations;
  • Establish and maintain documentation and databases, ensure project documentation is up to date and accurate;
  • Prepare updates, reports and contribute to internal communication;
  • Communicate and coordinate with colleagues, participants and clients in a professional manner that reflects the values and aims of the Centre.
  • Support tracking and monitoring of partnership and funding opportunities.

Additional duties

  • Makes suggestions for improvement; brings innovative ideas and creative thinking
  • Effectively promote synergies and ensure coordination and collaboration with other programmes, cluster areas and impact lines across the centre
  • Support the Executive Education Department in all aspects of the team’s work as required.

Required Education

  • A university degree in an area related to business administration, international security, law, social sciences or political science.
  • Ideally 1–2 years of relevant experience with MENA clients, customised courses/projects, sales or project management;
  • An experience in events management and/or hospitality environment would be a real asset; experience in the MENA region is highly valued;
  • Experience in an international or multicultural environment is an asset.

Desired skills

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required;
  • Fluency in Arabic; Writing and reading skills required;
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications: Word, Excel, Teams & Outlook;
  • Flexible, with a positive attitude;
  • Strong organisational skills and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to multi-task;
  • Reliable, proactive and motivated, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, partners and customers from diverse professional sectors and cultures; respect for diversity;
  • Interest and understanding of the non-profit sector.
