Ambassador Minjian Qian Attends Geneva Security Debate on Global Governance in a Changing World
On 10 November, Ambassador Minjian Qian of the People’s Republic of China to Switzerland attended and delivered remarks at the Geneva Security Debate titled “Global Governance in a Changing World,” jointly organised by the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy. The debate was attended by some 80 people including the Executive Director of the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Ambassador Thomas Greminger, and the Deputy Director-General of the Asia-Pacific Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Qian pointed out that facing a world of intertwined changes and disruptions, President Xi Jinping has proposed a Global Governance Initiative, China’s scheme for strengthening and improving global governance. The 15th Five-Year Plan makes it clear that China will lead the development of new quality productive forces with scientific and technological innovation, unswervingly promote high-quality development and high-level opening up. China will adhere to the concept of global governance characterised by consultation, joint construction and shared benefits, and continue to share opportunities and realise win-win outcomes with countries around the world including Switzerland.
Participating experts and scholars exchanged views around issues such as the imbalances in the international order and global governance of science and technology, calling for adherence to multilateralism, strengthening dialogue and communication, and rebuilding trust and cooperation in the international community.
