Amb Marc George
Since 2021 Ambassador Marc P George has been serving as the Senior Diplomatic Advisor to the GCSP’s Diplomatic Dialogue departments. Previously, he served as the Special Advisor for South-East Asia to the State Secretariat of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Swiss Special Advisor for the Peace Process in Mali. From 2013-2017, he was the accredited Ambassador of Switzerland to Pakistan and Afghanistan and in 2012, he was appointed as the Special Envoy of Switzerland to Yemen. He has also served as Counselor for the Swiss Mission to NATO (Brussels) and Counselor for the Peace Promotion process in the Great Lakes Region of Africa (Bujumbura). Ambassador George has worked for the Political Directorate of the FDFA as well as at the Directorate for International Public Law. He has served as the Deputy Head of the Swiss Development & Cooperation office in Rwanda. In addition to that, he has served in various functions on behalf of the Swiss government and the ICRC in Palestine (OPT), Croatia, Rwanda and Tanzania. Ambassador George has academic degrees (licence) in Law and Political Sciences as well as a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian Assistance and a Diploma in Human Rights.
