The essential convergence: Global Compact on Extreme AI Risks

On 6 July, the GCSP organised an event at the GCSP to launch the report The Essential Convergence: Global Compact on Extreme AI Risks carried out by the Strategic Foresight Group. The launch brought together leaders from the humanitarian, diplomatic, parliamentary, scientific and security communities to examine whether the world can learn from successful international initiatives of the last century, such as the Red Cross, landmine ban, and arms control agreements, to propose a practical framework for international cooperation on extreme AI risks before a major crisis compels action.
