Leadership is the lever that results in the commitment of individuals, teams and organisations to align resources, energy and actions toward shared, meaningful outcomes. Strategy is the different ways to achieve those outcomes, and the application of resources needed to do so. Leadership and strategy are essential elements in addressing increasingly complex international peace and security challenges.
The leadership and strategy cluster advances the development of leaders and the practice of leadership in security, peace and multilateral collaboration worldwide. Our purpose is to help individuals and organisations achieve their desired futures faster and more sustainably.
Through our Leadership Alliance (a joint initiative between the GCSP and the Center for Creative Leadership), we develop leaders in peace and security at all levels, creating an innovative balance of subject matter expertise with leadership development experiences unmatched by any other academic, policy, or civil society enterprise. The cluster develops executive education programmes and outreach activities, including short courses on Leading and Influencing for Impact, Leading Effectively in Turbulent Times and tailor-made courses such as Leadership in Anti-Corruption or Enhancing Leadership for Women.
The leadership and strategy cluster is reaching out to new audiences around the world through public dialogue and publications. The research efforts focus on aspects of transformational change at the individual, organisational and societal levels.
