MISSION

The Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP) is offering a part-time position (60%), to a Postgraduate in International Relations, Development, Political Sciences, Economics, International Humanitarian Law or other relevant fields.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is under the overall supervision of and reports to the Head of Diplomatic Dialogue 2. The Senior Researcher also works in close collaboration with the Director’s Office, members of other Departments, as well as Marketing and Communications. More specifically:

SPEECHWRITING, RESEARCH & PUBLICATION (TIME ALLOCATION: 30%)

  • Writes speeches and compiles presentations upon request of the GCSP Director and Head of Diplomatic Dialogue 2.
  • Carries out research and analysis on international peace and security issues, with the special focus on European security, upon request of the supervisor.
  • Collaborates with the Research and Policy Advice department on research and publications.   
  • Follows specific issues and processes in detail, depending on the department's needs, regarding ongoing and future research projects.
  • Drafts, edits, and reviews analyses and publications for Diplomatic Dialogue 2 and Director’s Office.
  • Undertakes other duties as required and requested by the supervisor.

DIPLOMATIC DIALOGUE FORMATS IMPLEMENTATION AND COORDINATION (TIME ALLOCATION: 30%)

  • Coordinates the design, preparation, implementation and follow-up of Diplomatic Dialogue activities with special focus on the European Security, under the supervision of the Head of Diplomatic Dialogue 2.
  • Develops partnerships with public and private institutions and establishes a sustained dialogue with relevant stakeholders 
  • Contributes to fundraising efforts for Diplomatic Dialogue activities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Postgraduate diploma in International Relations, Development, Political Sciences, Economics, International Humanitarian Law or other relevant fields.
  • A minimum of seven years of relevant professional, functional experience.
  • Solid track record in research and publications on European Security.
  • Methodological skills and experience in conducting dialogues.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Excellent analytical capacities and rapid learning.
  • Strong editorial skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt.
  • Organised, reliable and resourceful.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, partners and customers from diverse professional sectors and cultures, respect for diversity.
  • Proficiency in English, French and German is required. Knowledge of Russian is an asset, knowledge of other languages desirable.
  • Swiss or EU National or holder of a valid work permit is required.
