Online Press Briefing: The Biden-Putin Summit in Perspective

The Summit between US President Joe Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin on 16 June 2021 in Geneva offers a unique opportunity to reduce tensions and facilitate cooperation. Watch three distinguished speakers in this background briefing with journalists.

• Ambassador Thomas Greminger, Director, Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). Ambassador Greminger is a Swiss Ambassador who held numerous senior positions in the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. He most recently served as Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) from July 2017 until July 2020.
• Professor Mohammad-Mahmoud Ould Mohamedou, Professor of International History and Politics and Chair of the International History and Politics Department, the Graduate Institute, Geneva. Professor Mohamedou holds a PhD in Political Science from the City University of New York. He was previously Associate Director of the Harvard University Programme on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research.
• Ms Alexandra Matas (Moderator), Head of Effective Governance, Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). Alexandra Matas is Head of the Effective Governance and Deputy Head of the Diplomatic Dialogue at the GCSP. Alexandra is contributing to the GCSP courses and designing and delivering dialogue events in Geneva and internationally on the topics of the Russia-West relations, European Security and the OSCE conflict prevention mechanisms.
