Mission
We inspire, prepare and support a multidisciplinary, multicultural and multigenerational group of talented individuals in the field of peace and security by offering spaces and resources that support research, foster creativity and collaboration, and expand networks.
Type of Fellowships

Associate Fellows
Associate Fellows are distinguished experts formally affiliated with the GCSP by invitation, in recognition of their longstanding collaboration with the Centre. They share their expertise, advance key projects, and engage with staff, course participants, and GCSP’s vibrant international network. Associate Fellows play a vital role in promoting peace and security by leveraging GCSP’s resources and building bridges across diverse backgrounds.
Government Fellows
Government Fellows are mid- or high-level officials who join the GCSP-either in residence or virtually-during transitional periods such as preparing for a new assignment or while on sabbatical. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to reflect, explore new ideas, and prepare for future challenges in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment. Government Fellows benefit from GCSP’s resources, global network, and professional development opportunities, enhancing their ability to address complex security issues.
Executive-In-Residence
Executives-in-Residence are accomplished professionals from sectors such as business, academia, media, non-profits, and international organizations. Through a 2–6 month residency-on-site or online-they work on specific projects or transitions, drawing on GCSP’s dynamic network and resources. This programme empowers executives to advance their professional goals while contributing to GCSP activities and engaging with Geneva’s international community.
Doctoral Fellows
Doctoral Fellows are PhD candidates in the final stages of their studies or recent graduates (up to three years post-PhD) conducting research aligned with GCSP’s areas of expertise. Over a two- to six-month residency, in person or virtually, they contribute to research activities, present findings at seminars, and connect with leading scholars and practitioners. Doctoral Fellows also gain opportunities to publish and teach, benefiting from GCSP’s multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
Young Leaders in Foreign and Security Policy
Young Leaders in Foreign and Security Policy are promising professionals under 30, with at least two years of post-graduate experience and a record of excellence. Through a three-month residency or virtual fellowship, they gain hands-on experience in GCSP projects, expand their professional networks, and access mentorship and development opportunities. This programme nurtures the next generation of leaders in peace and security, fostering innovation and cross-cultural collaboration.
