Mr Marc Manashil
Marc Ross Manashil, MPA, MSW, is a consultant and educator specializing in leadership development for global changemakers. A social worker by training, Marc spent his early career working in the international development and philanthropy arena where he served as longtime executive director of a foundation that organizes global donor circles, as program director for a medical relief organization, and director of an NGO working to prevent child mortality in West Africa.
While pursuing an MPA at the Harvard Kennedy School from 2009-10, Marc studied adaptive leadership with Dr. Ronald Heifetz and subsequently became a teaching assistant to Dr. Dean Williams. In the years since, he has developed and facilitated hundreds of adaptive leadership classes and programs throughout the nonprofit and public sectors, in the U.S. and internationally. Marc is an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Co-Founder of the Adaptive Leadership in Human Services Institute at New York University’s Silver School of Social Work, a Lecturer at the University of California, Davis and Principal of CoInnovate Consulting, which provides leadership training and conflict transformation support to organizations and communities worldwide.
Marc has a special interest in the application of adaptive leadership as a critical tool in the peacebuilder's toolbox. He co-developed and co-facilitates “Carana Adapt,” an immersive program through which development, humanitarian and peacebuilding actors experience adaptive leadership development through a complex matrix game simulation of a fictional country in crisis. He has also facilitated adaptive leadership training experiences for the U.S. Institute of Peace, the Euphrates Institute, and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, among others.
In addition to his MPA, Marc holds a Master of Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley and a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
