GCSP-CCL Alliance for Advancing Leadership in Peace and Security

Our global landscape currently presents a multitude of disruptive challenges. The international peace and security agenda will likely continue to be shaped by flux and fluidity where traditional and emerging issues interconnect and multi-actor solutions are required.

The GCSP-CCL* Leadership Alliance was formed to advance the effectiveness of leadership in public, private, transnational, intergovernmental organisations, and civil society: especially those dedicated to advancing peace and security. The Leadership Alliance combines expertise in leadership development for large, multi-level organisations with in-depth knowledge of peace and security issues and policy. It offers innovative ways of addressing leadership related needs at individual, organisational and community levels.

Those concerned with international peace and security today face three common experiences:

  1. Their initiatives span nation-state boundaries.
  2. Their efforts seek to influence all levels of society and frequently collide with other actors attempting to do the same.
  3. Leadership in this context requires diligent effort to transform disruption into opportunity. Some succeed better at this than others.

Through courses, dialogue, special events, applied policy analysis and thought leadership, the Leadership Alliance will scale and advance leadership best practices, at each level of impact, with designs to transform disruption into sustained opportunities.

The Leadership Alliance is:

  • Collaborating across GCSP faculty to incorporate ‘leadership threads’ into existing courses;
  • Developing new open enrolment courses;
  • Framing thought leadership events and strategies to advance leadership understanding and practice;
  • Reaching out to governmental, civil society and international organisations intending to develop the leadership of their own organisations and offering custom solutions;
  • Seeking partnerships to build a global community to innovate, advance, and apply best and creative leadership practices.

Under the Leadership Cluster, we develop executive education programmes and outreach activities, including short courses on Lead and Influence with Impact, Leading Effectively in Turbulent Times and tailor-made courses such as Leadership in Anti-Corruption or Inspiring Women Leaders.

Contact the Leadership Alliance and express your interest in any area of advancing leadership in this context or in your organisation.
