Profile

Anna Brach is Head of Human Security and Planetary Resilience at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP). Her work focuses on the evolving nature of security and on the links between environmental, climate, health and human security. She leads the GCSP’s activities on human security and planetary resilience, including executive education programmes, policy dialogues, workshops and international initiatives.

Anna is also Director of the GCSP’s flagship advanced course, the New Issues in Security Course (NISC), which brings together senior civilian, diplomatic and military professionals from around the world to explore emerging security challenges and the future of peace and security.

Her areas of expertise include human security, environmental and climate security, health security, migration and mobility, resilience, global commons and resource governance. She is particularly interested in how complex and interconnected risks shape societies, institutions and international cooperation.

In addition to her work on executive education, Anna designs and facilitates international dialogues and multi-stakeholder initiatives involving governments, international organisations, academia and civil society. She serves as the GCSP focal point for human security, including within the Partnership for Peace (PfP) Consortium Human Security Working Group. Her work brings together policy, practice and learning to support informed decision-making on emerging security challenges.

Anna holds a Master's degree in Economics from the Warsaw School of Economics, a Master's degree in Political Science from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, and a Master's degree in European Studies from the University of Geneva. She is fluent in Polish, English and French.
